Miss Pettigrew really does live one day at a time - and what a day! Brought up in the strict traditions of a religious family, she lives on the modest earnings of a governess. And after his release, he ends up on the street - without a penny in his pocket, without hope for anything better. Driven to despair, she steals the business card of a prospective client from an employment agency and appears on her doorstep. But instead of taking care of the children, she will have to work as a personal secretary for the American actress Delicia Lafosse, who came to Britain in search of stage fame. A crazy whirlwind of events begins that will change everything in Guinevere Pettigrew's life.
