It's like doing things that bring a lot of pleasure." The film combines two exceptional books: "Julia and Julia" by Julia Powell and "My Life in France" by Julia Child and Alex Prudhomme. "My Life in France" is Child's memoir about life in post-war Paris with her husband, a foreign worker Paul Child, and how she was able to turn her love for French cuisine on a mission - to convey this love to American women. After she became the first American to study at the famous French culinary school, Julia decided to tell everyone about the charms of this exquisite cuisine and co-authored the book The Art of French Cuisine. The popularity of the book made Julia a star in the United States. "Speaking of passion, Julia Child didn't just have a passion for her husband or only for food, she had a passion for life," says Meryl Streep. - She liked to be alive and infect others with this mischievous spirit." Half a century later, in 2002, New York resident Julie Powell was about 30 years old. She was not satisfied with her pen test, and she worked for a company that rebuilt the World Trade Center after the September 11 disaster. Wanting to change something in her life, Julie decides to devote 365 days to cooking 524 recipes of Julia Child, and to describe her experiences in the blog. With the support of her husband Eric, who, it is necessary to say, was very happy with her wife's culinary experiences. Today, blogs are no longer a novelty, but in 2002, Julia was one of the pioneer bloggers. This blog became as popular as Child, so she decided to publish the book Julia and Julia: dangerous cooking, which was published by Little Brown in 2005. But even before the book went to press, producer Eric Steele learned about it by reading a culinary profile of Amanda Hesser. - She has a large audience. By the time I found her, thousands of people were reading her blog every day.” At the same time, producer Amy Robinson was thinking about making a film about the life and love of Julia and Paul Child. After hearing that Steele had acquired the rights to Jula Powell's story, Robinson suggested combining these two stories: "I thought we could combine these two stories, these two married couples, these two women who were trying to find themselves." This project attracted the attention of writer/director Nora Ephron, who is also crazy about cooking, producer Lawrence Mark and executive producer Scott Rudin. "When I started, I couldn't even imagine that the result would be a book, and that the book would be popular, and that Nora Ephron would make a movie, or that Meryl Streep and Amy Adams would star," says Julie Powell.
